V-Monologues at Notre Dame Protested

TFP Student Action members could not remain silent about performances of the vile 'Monologues' at Notre Dame. Traveling from Pennsylvania to Indiana, they distributed a flyer which echoed Bishop D’Arcy’s statement at the gates of Notre Dame on Tuesday morning.

The Twenty-Eighth State?

So far, twenty-seven states have amended their constitutions to protect traditional marriage. Pennsylvania maybe on the way to becoming the twenty-eighth state.
On March 17 the Pennsylvania Senate Judiciary Committee held a public hearing on the proposed amendment. The next day a vote was held to see if the bill would make it to the Senate floor. In a 10 to 4 vote, the proposition passed. All now that is required is the somewhat formidable approval of both legislative chambers in two consecutive two-year sessions and final approval through a state referendum
Seventeen state senators sponsor the proposition with Senator Michael Brubaker as the prime sponsor.
On the seventeenth, the American Society for the Defense of Tradition, Family and Property expressed its support for the proposed amendment. Gathered outside of the State Capitol building in Strawberry Square, TFP members distributed pro-traditional marriage flyers and held a banner that read “Marriage is not a creation of the State. It was established by God in Paradise, with our first parents, Adam and Eve (cf. Gen 2:24). Vote YES for traditional marriage! Approve SB 1250 and amend Pennsylvania’s Constitution.”
Signs with “HONK for Traditional Marriage” received support from passing drivers in downtown Harrisburg. Throughout the morning, TFP pipers played bagpipe music that filled the air punctuated by the shrill honking of many horns.
Passersby overwhelmingly affirmed their rejection of same-sex “marriage.”
“It’s common sense,” said one gentleman, “it’s Adam and Eve, not Adam and Steve.”
If the proposed amendment is approved, the change will only take place in 2009.

Bishops blast V-Monologues play on Catholic campuses

Members of the Campus Rosary Crusade have been opposing productions of the lewd V-Monologues play over the years -- especially when they are presented at Catholic institutions of higher learning such as the University of Notre Dame, where they subvert Catholic morality and thus have no place. There are new developments to report.

Just recently, Catholics protested at Loyola in New Orleans. The next day, Archbishop Alfred C. Hughes of New Orleans issued a statement against the play, saying

Academic freedom encourages the pursuit of the truth. Academic freedom is prostituted when it is used to justify activities which dehumanize women and perpetuate blatant falsehood.

Likewise, Bishop D'Arcy issued a powerful statement condemning the decision of Fr. Jenkins, president of Notre Dame, for allowing the play to disgrace campus later this month.

Bishop D’Arcy also criticized the play’s scheduling for Holy Week, saying, “If this play is performed on the dates scheduled, it will be held during Easter week, the holiest time of the church year… Surely Notre Dame will not prefer or even seem to prefer the requirements of the V-Day campaign to the proper observance of Easter.”
